What is yoga?
The question can be answered on several levels. An average person would certainly understand it to mean the practice of physical exercises. But yoga is much more than a series of physical practice. It is a complete philosophy of life. The essence of this philosophy of life is that one submits oneself (body, soul, spirit) to the Supreme Self (God) and from then on lives one's life as a realization of Self-realization (the Supreme Self, God). The eight-step system of yoga has been laid down by Patanjali, in the diet of which the disciple must practice all eight steps to reach the ultimate goal.
